According to the audit data of the Global Packaging Industry Association in 2024, the compliance rate of packaging recyclability design for suppliers certified by ISO 18604 reached 92%, while the average pass rate for uncertified suppliers was only 65%. For instance, the single-material vertical bag developed by Amco Company has been certified by the EU standard EN13432. Its biodegradation rate has reached over 90% within six months, far exceeding the baseline requirement of 60%. These suppliers invest approximately 5.2% of their annual revenue in standard upgrades each year to ensure that their products continuously comply with regulatory updates in 126 markets worldwide.
In terms of physical performance indicators, the products of leading suppliers perform exceptionally well. The drop strength test passed by ASTM D5276 shows that the breakage rate of its recyclable express bag is less than 3% after 50 drops from a height of 1.2 meters, and the puncture resistance strength remains above 8 joules. The recyclable packaging supplier cooperating with Amazon has a paper-based cushioning material with a load-bearing capacity of 15 kilograms per square centimeter and a compression rebound rate exceeding 85%, fully meeting the ISTA 3A transportation test standards. Third-party tests in 2023 showed that the median longitudinal tensile strength of products from leading suppliers was 85 megapascals, and the transverse strength was 78 megapascals, both higher than the industry benchmark of 70 megapascals.
There are significant differences in the implementation of chemical safety standards. The supplier of food-grade recyclable packaging certified by FDA 21 CFR 175.300 has a heavy metal migration amount of less than 0.01 mg/kg, which is much stricter than the general standard of 0.1 mg. According to the sampling inspection data of the European Food Safety Authority in 2024, the nonylphenol content of top suppliers was controlled below 5ppm, while 30% of the samples from small and medium-sized enterprises exceeded the 50ppm limit. Suppliers that have obtained the “CEFLEX” Gold certification have their product life cycle assessment data showing a 35% reduction in carbon footprint compared to the benchmark. The 2023 industry report indicates that suppliers who have established closed-loop management systems have achieved a material recycling rate of 73%, reducing the use of virgin plastic by 480,000 tons annually.
